This well-established neighborhood was started in the 1950's by local developer, Charles Steffey and his son, Jack Steffey. The land dates back to 1640 as part of the original Dorsey farm. Steffey acquired the 400-acre tobacco farm from St. John's College in 1937. He sold 80 acres in 1942 to the Naval Academy where the current Navy Stadium sits.
The community has two miles of waterfront among its 320 acres with streets named after Naval Admirals and within an easy walking distance to the historic district of Annapolis City.Steffey packaged the land and build-outs to be affordable with five single-story designs that allowed for some modifications. The basic home plan began at 1,200 square feet having three bedrooms, one-and-a-half baths, a living room with fireplace, dining room, kitchen, basement and carport. Costs began at $600 each and the houses build-out was $13,000, plus any modifications.
Today, Admiral Heights has about 600 homes and has seen the community undergoing a transformation as buyers expand and renovate the original models to modern family demands
The community attracts a wide age group from young, single professionals, newly married couples, families and even many of the original owners remain as residents.
It boasts lots of amenities that make living in the community quite enjoyable:
